Redtail Resilience Network is working to fundraise $1750 to pay for legal services and filing fees to incorporate as a not-for-profit organization in the state of Pennsylvania. Help us reach our goal so we can get to work supporting community preparedness!
Our mission is to train and equip people to prepare for, respond to, and be resilient against acute and ongoing social and environmental crises. We need an administrative body to support the people who are already doing that work and have been doing that work.
We are hiring Fair Shake Environmental Legal Services to help ensure that our bylaws and organizational structure are legally compliant, so that we can focus our efforts on programming and organizing.
This year alone, our members have given Bleeding Control trainings, cleared downed tree limbs from neighbors yards and community gardens after a severe storm, and have organized neighbors to help prepare for future storms. We have more Bleeding Control and de-escalation trainings on the horizon, as well as disaster preparedness work.
We could do this work more effectively and more consistently if we were a formal organization. Our trainers often can’t give certifications because affiliation with organizations like Red Cross and insurance are cost prohibitive. Individuals can’t raise large amounts of money to support their volunteer work without being at risk for tax bills or losing access to funds. Without organizational bank accounts, we can’t apply for grants or accept monthly dues.
If we raise more than $1750, the extra funds will go towards purchasing Bleed Kits to keep our training costs low for participants, saving for solar generators that can be used during power outages, and paying for day-to-day costs of digital services.
